Archbishop’s Message

Message on Theme 2024: Stewardship –
A Foundation for Church Transformation. (1 Corinthians 4:1-2; Matthew 25:14-30)

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our theme for 2023 was “Stewardship: A foundation for Church Transformation.” The purpose for the theme was to drive a transformation process, first in our lives and families and then in the church as a whole.

We must strive daily to see every aspect of our lives conforming to the Will of God. The concept of stewardship is founded on an understanding that we do not belong to ourselves neither should anything we do or must do be for our own selfish objectives. The concept enables us to weigh all aspects of our lives, be it spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, social and even financial against the standards set by God to see if we are being stewards of them the way God expects of us (that is, being ready to be held accountable, to answer for our actions).

As each person takes responsibility for his/her life and manages it according to God’s standards and expectations, our families and church will benefit from it. Thus, stewardship will lead to many transformed lives ready for the Master’s use and for positive impact. The Church is made up of families and families are made up of individuals. Individuals and families are therefore the building blocks for churches. How are we as individuals being good stewards in terms of our spiritual growth, health and well being, our environment, our social relations and our roles in the Church and workplaces, including every space in which we find ourselves? This fundamental question must apply to how we are responsible for managing the church on a structured and disciplined basis.

The principles of stewardship involve the proper management of everything that has been entrusted to us by God. If correctly applied, stewardship would help to transform our lives, our Church and society at large. A transformed life becomes light driving out darkness wherever that life finds itself.
