Archbishop’s Message

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our theme for 2023 was “Stewardship: A foundation for Church Transformation.” The purpose for the theme was to drive a transformation process, first in our lives and families and then in the church as a whole. We must strive daily to see every aspect of our lives conforming to the Will of God. The concept of stewardship is founded on an understanding that we do not belong to ourselves neither should anything we do or must do be for our own selfish objectives. The concept enables us to weigh all aspects of our lives, be it spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, social and even financial against the standards set by God to see if we are being stewards of them the way God expects of us (that is, being ready to be held accountable, to answer for our actions).
As each person takes responsibility for his/her life and manages it according to God’s standards and expectations, our families and church will benefit from it. Thus, stewardship will lead to many transformed lives ready for the Master’s use and for positive impact.

The Church is made up of families and families are made up of individuals. Individuals and families are therefore the building blocks for churches. How are we as individuals being good stewards in terms of our spiritual growth, health and wellbeing, our environment, our social relations and our roles in the Church and workplaces, including every space in which we find ourselves? This fundamental question must apply to how we are responsible for managing the
church on a structured and disciplined basis. The principles of stewardship involve the proper management of everything that has been entrusted to us by God. If correctly applied, stewardship would help to transform our lives, our Church and society at large. A transformed life becomes light driving out darkness
wherever that life finds itself.

The above objectives were largely not achieved by the church. Consequently, this year, 2024, we are focusing on the same theme, which is “Stewardship: A Foundation for Church Transformation.” It is our belief that maintaining this theme for 2024 and driving an intentional agenda, would provide the foundation for the transformation of individuals, families, and, subsequently, the church. For clarity purposes, we wish to state that the purpose of the theme was not fully understood by our members and therefore was not well implemented. The core objective of this theme is to see transformation in individual lives, resulting in transformed branches worldwide.

The theme may have specific context and applicability for the various jurisdictions of the Church, but the fundamental guiding principle is what Jesus Christ would have us do as stewards. However, what is common globally would include our conformity to the image of Christ, responsibility towards our membership, implementation of structures, systems and processes for ensuring an effective and efficient church management and witness. Specifically, we would like to entreat all members to pray for Ghana, as 2024 is an election year. We need to pray for peaceful elections, and for the will of God to prevail. Let us encourage our members (and for those of us in the diaspora, let us admonish our relations in Ghana) not to participate in any vice or violence that would cause harm to individuals and the nation. Let each member who is eligible to vote exercise their right in a responsible manner.

Above all, each of us should fervently pray for the Lord to establish the right rule in our country, so that the country, along with its citizens, would flourish to the Glory of God.In conclusion, I call on you to remember that we are not our own, everything we are and have has been given to us by God and He expects us to give account of every little detail; even a careless word from our mouth will be judged; how much more our thoughts and actions. Let us work at transforming our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit and be accountable in all things, so that we can receive the commendation of “well done, you good and faithful servant” at the end of our Christian race.May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
abide with you now and forever more. Amen!
God bless you.
